Special Olympics BC

Since 1985, the Foundation has raised more than $6.2 million for Special Olympics BC and played a critical part in the growth of the non-profit provincial organization. Through consistent support, the Foundation has helped SOBC provide life-changing year-round sport, health, and youth programs for athletes with intellectual disabilities. The New Car Dealer’s Auction for Athletes for Special Olympics BC raises more than $250,000 annually via the Foundation, and a percentage of revenue raised through the auction returns to the Foundation.

Making a difference with Special Olympics BC and the New Car Dealers Foundation of BC

The Auction for Athletes returned on April 7 to 10, 2025, to drive life-changing support for Special Olympics BC! Thank you to the incredible sponsors, donors, bidders, and supporters who helped raise over $225,000 during the event.

For 40 years, B.C.’s New Car Dealers have been making a difference through the Auction for Athletes. The annual online auction has raised more than $6.2 million to empower Special Olympics athletes with intellectual disabilities, and help the New Car Dealers Foundation of BC award automotive industry grants and scholarships.

Your donations and bids make a lasting difference, enabling Special Olympics BC to offer empowering year-round sport programs, open hearts and minds to inclusion, and break down barriers in 55 communities throughout the province.

The auction website annually attracts hundreds of visitors from around the province, bidding on sought-after items and experiences including new cars, electronics, autographed memorabilia, sporting goods, gift cards, and more. When you make a donation or place a bid, your generosity enriches the lives of Special Olympics athletes and inclusive communities across the province.

Post-Secondary Schools

The New Car Dealers Foundation of BC distributes award and grant funding through the CarCareerBC program, and also in collaboration with several post-secondary schools. Over $40,000 is distributed annually through the various awards, which are currently set up with the following schools and programs.

Marketing Tourism Program, Professional Sales Program (Business), Automotive Trades

Automotive Foundations, Automotive Apprentice Levels 2, 3 or 4, 1st Year Business Certificate or 2nd Year Business Diploma Programs

Automotive Service Technician Program, Business (Business Management, Accounting or Finance) Programs

Automotive Business Diploma and Bachelor of Business, Automotive Management Degree Program

Automotive Service Technician Pre-Apprenticeship Trades, Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship, and Business Degree/Diploma Program

Business Program, Automotive Service Technician Program

The Canadian Automobile Dealers Association also has a scholarship established for students enrolled in the Automotive Business School of Canada Bachelor of Business, Automotive Management Program through Georgian College.

For students who are not attending the above schools/programs, they may apply for a grant through the CarCareerBC Grant Program.

ADESA Vehicle Auction

A car today strengthens your industry tomorrow!

Support your New Car Dealers Foundation of BC to develop and educate youth entering our industry. It’s easy to help:

  • The Foundation arranges and covers all transportation for donated vehicles, and there are no additional expenses to you.
  • Vehicles will be sold by the New Car Dealers Foundation with ADESA as the auction partner.
  • 100% of funds from each sold vehicle are directed to the New Car Dealers Foundation of BC, and tax receipts are available.
  • Funds from all sold vehicles will be directed to grants and post-secondary funding.
